We believe in the transformative power of public services

Service Design Collective is a woman-owned public benefit corporation founded and run by alumni of the United States Digital Service. We use human-centered design to help our partners look beyond a single feature, product, or organization to deliver better outcomes for governments and the people they serve.

Process

We empower leadership with design

Delivering exceptional public services is about more than technology or customer experience. Leaders need a holistic understanding of the capabilities of their teams, the people they serve, and the environments in which they operate. We help teams leverage modern methods to increase efficiency and improve project outcomes.

Research
We conduct research on public services to help organizations meet the needs of constituents and civil servants
Discovery
We use a time-boxed method called a discovery sprint to help teams quickly build a common understanding of complex organizations, systems, or services
Strategy
We advise leaders on a host of topics; introducing design operations, procurement design, establishing digital services, technical hiring, and leadership
Experience
We train staff on how to conduct discovery sprints, employ human centered design, and hire or collaborate with technical teams
Security
We examine and understand your risk environment and help you set security standards and policies that make sense for your team

We bring decades of experience

We have decades of experience at all levels and across all three branches of the U.S. government. We have also worked with cities, states, and dozens of countries and international organizations to help them establish digital teams and improve public services.
